Allon designed and simulation-tested a 3D-printable assembly to house and individually disperse thousands of seedballs for startup company Reboot Reforrestation using Autodesk Fusion 360. Reboot Reforrestation is bringing smart agriculture and ecological conservation to the skies with innovative drone technology. Allon was tasked with making the dispenser an attachment to their drones, choosing ABS plastic as the printing material as it's cheap, easily printable, stronger than PLA, and heat-resistant enough for continuous fieldwork.

Reboot Reforrestation is focusing on various conservation efforts, and in particular, reforresting the Longleaf Pine. The Longleaf Pine is 97% deforrested and its forests are endangered directly putting upwords of 30 species of plants and animals in endangered or threatened status themselves.

The designs feature plastic printable snap compliance mechanisms (as opposed to fasteners) for easy assembly/disassembly and for reducing overall weight. The rotating "fan auger wheel" also has room on the bottom face for free sediment from the seedballs to accumulate while the bottom plate has a slit through which the accumlated sediment can exit the assembly. Rigid body simulation in Blender proved the models successful (SEE BELOW). Allon's designs improved on Reboot Reforrestations initial model by being readily functional, able to mitigate clogging, mountable, and modular with a max payload capacity around 7-fold larger than the original.
